About Northwest Press

nw_circle_RGB_177Northwest Press is a book publisher dedicated to publishing the best lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender comics collections and graphic novels and celebrating the LGBT comics community. It was founded in 2010 by comics writer and LGBT comics activist Charles “Zan” Christensen.

Northwest Press’ mission is to publish quality queer comics work and help rising talents reach wider audiences, and to increase the visibility of LGBT comics in general. In addition to NWP’s original print releases, the company has amassed a great catalog of top-notch digital work, presented with polish and style.

Lambda Literary Award medalOur commitment to quality has paid off; the first release from Northwest Press—Jon Macy’s Teleny and Camille—won the Lambda Literary Award for Gay Erotica in 2011. Justin Hall’s Glamazonia: The Uncanny Super-Tranny was also nominated for best Transgender Fiction.

Zan and artist Mark Brill were honored by OUT Magazine as two of their “OUT 100″ for 2011 in recognition of their work on the anti-bullying comic The Power Within. Zan was also featured in Gay.net’s “13 to Watch in 2013“.
